What a Difference a Year Makes
A year ago this week, I set out with a band of fierce and determined woman, gay and straight, to tackle the steep hills of Pittsburgh and canvas for Hillary Clinton for president. We were tireless and optimistic, even as the yards stretched out before us outside in the Pittsburgh suburbs blanketed with Trump-Pence signs and random doors (of identified democratic-leaning voters) slammed in our faces.

It is news underlying actions wielding the jagged edge of a knife, it is coming down on one side or the other, it is fierce, defiant, divisive and ugly – though for many it holds the possibility of healing, reconciliation, and a ray of hope. Emboldened White Supremacists March & Murder in Charlottesville
Baltimore rallies against hate and violence The white supremacists stood in a circle in the Charlottesville park, hoodless but waving Confederate and Nazi flags and posters of the cross, chanting in booming unison “Fuck you, faggots.” They were surrounded by counter-protesters but separated from them by two fences, yellow police tape, and a wall of stone-faced police in their lime green vests. A Huffington Post reporter captured the moment in a tweet: “You heard that right. They’re chanting “Fuck you faggots.” 2017. #Charlottesville”
