The Keystone State Gay Rodeo Association will be holding their annual royalty competition, February 24th at 704 Lounge (704 3rd Street, Harrisburg) starting at 3 pm. What is Rodeo Royalty? The royalty program consists of the royalty candidates of Mr., Ms., Miss, and Mister KSGRA. The royalty candidates help fundraise and promote the organization and rodeo throughout the local and regional community and throughout the US. Those that are sashed as royalty also have the ability to compete for the IGRA (International Gay Rodeo Association) Royalty team in November 2018.

The Kids of KSGRA
On Sunday August 20th, at Spring Valley County Park, KSGRA held an Open Gaming Show. For those who do not know what this is (guess you don’t read this paper..LOL) it is a family friendly event open to all, where adults and children can come and compete in several rodeo type events including: 50-yard dash, pole bending, flag racing barrel racing and goat dressing to name a few. Celebrating Pride Country Style
Think rodeo! Are you a little bit country? Put on your boots, dust off your hat and get ready to go Boot Scootin’ Boogie! Since 1985, the International Gay Rodeo Association has been roping and riding all across the United States. IGRA, based out of Denver, Colorado, is made up of 20 local associations. Each of the associations hold unique events — including rodeos, dances, trail rides, and horse shows — for the country cowboy and cowgirl lover in all of us.

Irene’s Story
Let me introduce you to Irene Benedetti – a short, slim, soft-spoken Italian woman who hails from South Philly, but could be from any Italian neighborhood in any major city. At a recent dinner party, someone asked her what it was like growing up as an out lesbian in the early 1960s. You see, Irene is now a senior, and most LGBT activists of today only know a little of our elders’ stories. In our community, LGBT seniors are largely invisible. Our activists talk about or mention Stonewall and all it symbolizes, but that symbolism is rarely personalized.
