Not only do you need to work out your body, but you also need to fuel it properly to reach the goals you’ve set for yourself.
This spring, Youfit Health Clubs brought Lindsey Gass, a registered dietician, on to the team to provide professional knowledge and insight into the food portion of the health and wellness path.
Summer can have schedules all out of whack (in a good way – hey there, beach vacation!) where it’s easy to make unhealthy decisions. Lindsey has just the ticket for you to eat healthier this summer and that ticket is meal replacement shakes. Here are three easy meal replacement shake recipes that are simple enough to get you out of the kitchen faster and onto enjoying your fun summer activities. These will keep you full, energized and ready to tackle the adventures ahead.

- ½ cup frozen blueberries (or mixed berry blend)
- 1 cup low-fat yogurt (or dairy-free yogurt of choice)
- 1 frozen unsweetened acai packet
- 1 cup milk of choice
- 1 tablespoon almond or peanut butter
Throw everything in a blender and enjoy immediately or place in an airtight container or thermos. Can store up to 48 hours.
Banana Bread Latte
- 2 frozen bananas
- 1 handful of walnuts
- 1 tablespoon chia seeds
- ½ cup iced coffee or cold brew
- 1 cup milk of choice
- 1 cup yogurt of choice
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- ½ tsp ground nutmeg
Resist the urge to brag about what you’re sippin’ on to your coworkers. Blend together and place in an airtight container or thermos. Can store up to 48 hours.
Strawberry Classic
- 1 frozen banana
- 1 cup frozen strawberries
- ½ cup frozen raspberries
- 1 cup milk of choice
- ½ cup greek yogurt (can substitute a dairy-free option)
- 1 tablespoon chia seeds
This is the smoothie from your childhood, but with a healthier twist. Blend together and pour in a to-go cup for a meal on the road or place in an airtight container. Can store up to 48 hours.
Pro tip: if you’re using non-dairy yogurt / milk alternatives, add one scoop of your favorite protein powder or substitute with three tablespoons of almond or peanut butter.
Smoothies are the perfect go-to for those days when you’re hungry and strapped for time. Don’t let your busy schedule stop you from making a healthy choice for positive change. A quick shake can be your new quick fix!
