For the fifth year in a row, the predominantly LGBTQ led group B & Dee’s Baltimore Love has hosted a Thanksgiving event open to all of Baltimore’s homeless population, with the goal of providing them a hot Thanksgiving meal, as well as useful tools and resources. Last year they served over 1,600 meals per day on two different days, with the support of over 1,200 volunteers, and this year they anticipate even more.

This event is a great opportunity for those in our community who are stably housed, and don’t have to worry about where they will lay their heads down at night, to help those who are less fortunate. There are lots of ways to support this event, either as a volunteer or through donations. More on that to follow.

The event is planned for 11 am to 3:30 pm on Saturday, November 17th, and will be held again at 420 Fallsway, under the Jones Falls Expressway (JFX). The event is free and open to the public, and will include vendors, live entertainment, as well as toiletry, clothing, coat and blanket giveaways.

This year’s entertainment will include DJ Uzoma, Priddy Music Academy, and former King of Pride Chris Jay. This year’s vendors will include Retirement Wellness Strategies, providing Narcan training; Chase Brexton Health Care, providing HIV and hepatitis C testing; Healthy Lives Matter, offering addiction, behavioral health, and case-management services; Towson University, providing blood pressure screening; Thankful Paws, providing free pet food and supplies; Organization of Hope, providing free showers and laundry services in their mobile “Hope on Wheels” unit.

B & Dee’s Baltimore Love’s official partner is the Druid Heights Community Development Center, and their current sponsors are Stephen J. Tang Plumbing; SAFE Management, and ERC of Maryland. To help sponsor the event, contact them at

“Thank you for your support of our fifth annual Thanksgiving,” said Brian Dolbow, B & Dee’s president. “It’s our amazing volunteers and donors that make events like this happen. The people of Baltimore are so appreciative of everything we do. Together we will make a difference.”
