We did it. We made it through another year. If you watched some of those “Year in review” pieces on television, 2017 was really a horrible year. I for one went to too many funerals in 2017. Thankfully I ended my year on a high note with a trip to Fort Lauderdale, where I visited my ShipMate club brother Mike Reisig, two COMMAND MC members Mike and Marty, and took a cruise to the Dominican Republic with Thomas of the Centaur MC, Mr. Maryland Leather 2013 Bob Rose, and Mr. Maryland Leather 2007 Sir Steve. Once again my friends from […]
Here We HO Again!
I hate to admit it, but I am really not a big fan of the holiday season. It’s stressful, melancholy, and often a recipe for disappointment. We are often reminded of younger days, miss those who are no longer with us, and discover that our holiday reality is not perfect like those seen in movies or TV shows. We may miss those family traditions that have fallen by the wayside due to changes in family situations or simply the passing of time. At this time of year I am thankful that three of my favorite Baltimore holiday traditions live on […]
Mr. DC Eagle 2018 is…
Daniel T. Ferguson from Washington, DC, was named Mr. DC Eagle 2018 during the annual contest held on November 18th at Washington’s historic leather bar. First runner-up was Juaniorex Cemicaonani a member of Washington’s Highwaymen TNT leather club. There were no additional contestants.
The Maine Event
I always have an amazing time each year at the big leather events such as Mid-Atlantic Leather Weekend in Washington, DC, or International Mr. Leather in Chicago. These events draw hundreds of leather folks – and who doesn’t enjoy seeing the sights in a big city? Everyone in the leather community has been to these annual gatherings. When you are making your New Year’s resolutions in a few weeks, think about planning to attend a small leather function next year. It’s even more fun if the event is held in a city that you have never visited before and in […]
Mr. Maryland Leather 2018 is…
Brendan Patrick, a health-care professional and popular Baltimore Eagle bartender, was selected the 27th Mr. Maryland Leather titleholder on Saturday, November 4th at the annual Mr. Maryland Leather Contest produced by COMMAND MC at the Baltimore Eagle. First runner-up and also recipient of the Brotherhood Award was Daddy Rob Cwiklowski, a member of COMMAND MC, and 2nd runner-up was awarded to Jason Clark-Fox, a member of COMMAND MC. Also competing were COMMAND pledge Glenn Belcher and COMMAND pledge Samuel Goldstein. (It should be noted that a 6th contestant was introduced earlier in the weekend but that contestant did not advance […]
I Can’t Do It All Myself!
There have always been problems in the leather community. I’m not talking about persons making inappropriate comments on social media or even pictures of leather titleholders dressed in t-shirts, preppie shorts, sneakers, and leather sashes. I like to look on the positive side of things. I’m talking about the problem of having so many leather events going on at the same time that I can’t get to them all. That’s a good problem to have.
Start Spreading the News!
Joseph Macchia, a talent booker from Maspeth, New York, in the borough of Queens, took home the title of Mr. Eagle NYC 2018 at the annual contest held on Saturday, October 7th at New York City’s iconic leather bar. First runner-up was Johnny Quesada, a photographer from New York City, and second runner-up was awarded to Dwayne Townsend, an actor, model, and aerobics instructor, as well from the Big Apple. Also competing were Damien Basile, Darius “Dax” Fox, and Mike Chapman.
Meet Leather Fox
Our newest Mid-Atlantic Leather Woman, Leather Fox, is right in this paper’s backyard! I met her at a few different events and enjoyed her company immensely. She’s highly involved with one of my favorite clubs in the region (or anywhere really), the Mid-Atlantic Girls of Leather, and though we didn’t speak much I always enjoyed the interactions we did have. She always seemed up for volunteering and added a positive presence, plus she helps run a sex and BDSM blog, “The Black Pomegranate.” I can’t wait to see all that she accomplishes! I know her first bar night at Baltimore […]
Meet Bumper
Bumper lives in one of the most Southern parts of what is considered leather’s Mid-Atlantic region– Chesapeake, Virginia. She’s certainly making her mark. Setting up places for budding bootblacks to learn and seasoned ones to perfect their skills as a co-leader of Hampton Roads Bootblacks, she also stepped forward to be an ambassador for the region as the Mid-Atlantic Leather Woman Bootblack 2018. Approachable, sweet, and very much skilled, I loved seeing her work her magic in the bootblack chair and onstage.
Meet Debbie Jones
Debbie Jones, a Virginia resident, gives seemingly tirelessly. I’ve seen this person at more events than I can count in many, many capacities. The work I see her do the most is as an American Sign Language interpreter, helping provide accessibility for deaf individuals for all kinds of events, including classes and contests. She dances on stage and brings an energy that fills the room. Sometimes my eyes sneak away from the performers to check out what she’s doing. Inevitably many an MC will make her sign dirty words and do everything in their power to make her blush. It’s […]
