The United Kingdom is facing recession and financial instability amongst people, due to an increase in the cost of living. £299 is a part of £900 allowance for low-income families which was distributed in three installments. Who can claim the £299 amount?

To claim the £299, you must be eligible for the benefits proposed by the Department for Work and Pension. These benefits include-

What to do if you have not received the £299 payment?

The payment must have been made between 16 and 22 February who receives Child Tax Credit and Working Tax Credit. 

People who have not received the payment and think that they were eligible. Such people can file a report on the DWP site (GOV.UK.).

  1. It includes your name, DOB, residential address, and National Insurance Number (NIN). 
  2. After successfully submitting the form, it takes up to two weeks to receive the response. 

How to apply for the cost-of-living payment?

If you think you’re eligible then you will be getting the payment the same way you receive other benefits. Stay beware from the fraudsters asking for your bank details or personal information. The DWP never asks for your details over text or email. 

“DWP COL” is the payment reference for the people who receive benefits from the DWP. 

“HMRC COLS” is the payment reference for the people who receive tax credits.
