Maybe This Time They Changed

Recently many clients have been saying the same thing about their significant other, spouse, or ex. The characters may change but the story line is the same. It goes something like this: “He called me last week. I know we broke up last year after he kicked my cat, put sand in my gas tank, beat me up, and got me fired. He seemed really, I don’t know, regretful. He wants to meet, have me come over or chat on the phone. I think he deserves a second, third, even fifth chance. I don’t want to hurt his feelings.” I […]

Resisting Temptation

For the most part, I live a pretty healthy lifestyle. I exercise 30 minutes four to five days a week and I eat more vegetables at breakfast than most people do all day. I don’t mind eating the same things every day. My breakfasts and lunches are standard and I add some variety at dinner. While I try to limit my sweets I am not very successful. I can plow through a box of Oreos and Reese’s are my kryptonite.

It is at CCBC where I learned the difference between simply “attending classes” and “becoming a student.” I went from obsessively watching the second hand on the clock tic by, to studying for hours and graduating with honors. So when given the offer to teach at CCBC, I jumped at the chance! Here […]

Once safely on the other side the the senior monk let her down and continued along the path. The junior monk was very […]

May Be

There is a Taoist story of an old farmer who had worked his crops for many years. One day his horse ran away. Upon hearing the news, his neighbors came to visit. “Such bad luck,” they said sympathetically. “May be,” the farmer replied. The next morning the horse returned, bringing with it three other wild horses. “How wonderful,” the neighbors exclaimed. “May be,” replied the old man.
