Are you interested in deepening your advocacy for LGBTQ youth in Maryland’s schools? Do you have a penchant for colorful PowerPoint slides, chart paper, and icebreakers? Are you, on occasion, able to make yourself available during school hours? If you answered “yes” to at least two of those questions, you may be an ideal candidate to conduct LGBTQ safe space presentations.
As part of their mission to ensure all Maryland schools are safe and welcoming for all students, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression, GLSEN Maryland is looking for community members to fill vital roles as volunteer facilitators.
To participate, attend the planned volunteer training on Saturday, March 30th, from 10 am to 4:30 pm in the Zamoiski Alumni Center at the Friends School of Baltimore (5114 North Charles Street, Baltimore). You will learn how to present accurate, engaging presentations on creating safer, more affirming schools for LGBTQ youth. After you complete this training, you will be enabled to give 60- to 90-minute presentations to schools on behalf of GLSEN Maryland.
To participate, register today at Bit.ly/2u3FsMB. Additional details will be provided when you register. Lunch will be provided. Youth, persons of color, disabled, and gender-expansive persons are strongly encouraged to participate.
