Southpole, Going Down!

By Sam Kunz

So apparently I found out that outside the Phoenix, there are cameras that record for JHU. Well, not that I have anything to worry about, but a certain up-and-coming drag queen and a certain flight attendant had to worry about the cameras. He knows who I am talking about. I love him, and he gave me permission to say this. So trust and believe darlings.

So I went to Pride as many of you did. Oh yes, I saw you all there. Oh, I took the culinary tour. The Teriyaki Chicken Stick. The crab cakes. Funny, I had the crab cakes, yet I wonder who all got the crabs that weekend hah.

I was very proud to march in the parade along side my dear friends Steve who is the editor of our great paper and his husband Bob, but also our co-publisher Jim, Robbie, Corey and his boyfriend RobertMarty also showed up (with a bunch of his friends), who was holding the banner in his swim suit, but from the pictures he looked like he wasn’t wearing pants. You all know how cute Marty is. Go to our website or look in our issue to see the pictures. You know you want to.

Pride Edition

By Sam Kunz

Well. First of all let me all wish each and everyone a very happy Pride. The two days of the year where tank tops and short-short jean shorts are in vogue again, and I am talking about the men! Please be safe and practice good taste. What the hell am I talking about? This is Baltimore Pride! Make sure you all come out for the parade and show support. I'll be marching with the other great writers of Baltimore OUTloud.

So I was at the DL Club on Movie/Margarita night. Well, Lovell and I were there anyways. We watched To Wong Foo. For the 100th time! Not at the bar, but just as a gay man. Apparently the DL Club has a remote control, something akin to the one they had in Click with Adam Sandler because the manager, Lord Byron didn’t think I was mature enough or intelligent enough to operate it. Oooh babies, you would have thought I was trying to borrow her car hahaha!

All Gave Some, Some Gave All

By Sam Kunz

You know sitting here, on the eve of Memorial Day, I am reminded of those who gave their all to our community. Be it from the activist to the soldier who died supporting our country. I tried to figure out what the difference was. At the end of all my soul searching and reasoning, I came to one conclusion. There was none. You see, We each are fighting for equality and equal rights. Be it on the Battlefield or right here on the Home front.

I would like to dedicate this column to all the men and women who have given their last full measure of devotion to this country. I saw a picture earlier of a woman weeping over the grave of her son. A 19 year old Marine, Cpl. Eric Ward. I saw the picture and something told me to dig deeper. I found a face to go with the grave. It moved me to tears. As a matter of fact, I am weeping as I write this.
