On August 26th, the Community Cares Project (CCP) hosted their first Leadership Awards, honoring eight black LGBTQ leaders. Earle Fowlkes, head of the Center for Black Equity, gave the keynote and DJ Shawn Smallwood kept up the beat.

The CCP hosts monthly safe space events, with the goal of increasing leadership skills and building social networks as a means to prepare men to serve in local community initiatives that impact HIV prevention and treatment for Same Gender Loving Black Men.
